Courtois reveals secret to saving Chelsea's season

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says the club can save their season by winning the FA Cup or Champions League.

The Blues have endured a nightmare start to their campaign, which resulted in Jose Mourinho being sacked by the club in December.

Guus Hiddink has since been appointed his temporary successor on a six-month deal, with his arrival coinciding with an upturn in fortunes on the pitch.

After beating Sunderland and drawing with Watford, Chelsea drew at Manchester United before Sunday's impressive 3-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Those results have seen them rise to 14th in the Premier League table but Courtois says success in cup competitions could see them end this term on a high.

"Obviously if you win the FA Cup or the Champions League maybe it will still be a positive [season]," Courtois told reporters.

"Success is a big word if you play until now not very well except the last three or four games.

"But still with the FA Cup or maybe the Champions League it could be a positive season if we end up in the top four or top six.

"We have to go step by step. Some teams are close together. If we beat West Brom and Everton we could be maybe eighth or ninth in a few weeks.
