Opposition Party Calls On PMB To Swear-in Ministers

The Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately swear in his ministers, PM News reports.
The Senate’s President Bukola Saraki and senators during the screening of the ministerial nominees.
Yesterday, October 29, the Nigerian Senate successfully finished the screening and confirmation of all 36 ministerial nominations.
According to a statement issued by Olusegun Peters, the party’s national chairman, on Friday in Abuja, Nigerians can’t wait longer for the ministers to assume their duties.
“Since one man cannot be an island, the need for collective effort and team work in effective governance cannot be emphasised.
“DPC therefore urges Buhari, in-coming ministers, and indeed, all public office holders, to imbibe team spirit in carrying out their constitutional duties,” the statement read in part.
The party stressed that national interest should supersede partisan politics and personal interest.
According to the DPC, patriotism should be the watchword in revamping the nation’s economy, fight against corruption and terrorism.
“It is time to redefine governance and meet the yearnings of impoverished Nigerians, longing for a better and secured nation.
“The task ahead is enormous and calls for diligence, perseverance and managerial acumen,” the party said.
Finishing its statement, the DPC called on Nigerians to embrace the party as the “third leg in the nation’s political tripod” as it “ will at all times point the way forward in building a great nation which future generations will be proud of”.
Meanwhile, the presidency has revealed when President Buhari will administer the oath of office on his ministers.
An insider who is familiar with the development said:
The first major official assignment before Mr President in November is the inauguration of his cabinet. Arrangements have already been made for this and this [will] most likely happen on Wednesday.”
