Kogi Governorship Election: INEC Releases 22 Candidates

Twenty-two various party candidates and their running mates in the November 21 Kogi state governorship election have been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, The Nation reports.

INEC released a document titled: “Kogi Governorship 2015 Final List”, which was a list containing the 22 candidates and their running mates according to their parties in alphabetic order.
The document which was signed bu U. F. Usman, Acting Secretary to the commission was dated 9th. October, 2015.
Some of them are below:
Isah Yakubu Kamaldeen- Action Alliance (AA),
Dickson Fred- Accord,
Ukwenya Musa- ACD, Michael Abdullahi- AD
Usman Zainab- ADC.
Prince Abubakar Audu- All Progressives Congress (APC),
Akwu Umar Goodman (APGA),
Yinka Cherry Oloruntoba- (CPP),
Raji Ogirima (KOWA),
Phillips Omeiza Salawu (LP),
Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada (PDP)
Sa’ad Mukailu Yaro (UDP).
However, ahead of the governorship election a youth group in the state, Kogi East Youth Front, alleged that a governorship aspirant is plotting to sabotage the election of the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Further in its series of allegations, the group also said that the choice of James Faleke, an Okun-Yoruba from the western senatorial district, as a running mate to Prince Audu had also been on tribal basis.
Also ahead of the poll, the state governor, Idris Wada, called on President Muhammed Buhari not to play politics ahead of the Kogi election with the issue of bailout fund earmarked for states.
He had said that the state government will not compromise its rights even in the face of persecution by Audu.
Audu and his running mate had at a campaign rally said they had prevailed on the president to order the stoppage of the release of bailout funds to Kogi state until after the election in November.
The governor said that it was not ideal to politicise the issue.
