THE Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, has asked Governor Sule Lamido to pay the sum of N30 million damages to All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Alhaji Sabo Muhammed Nakudu.
Giving the judgement, Justice Sabi'u Yahuza said the court was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant violated the fundamental rights of the plaintiff.
The case was filed before the court by Honourable Nakudu against Governor Lamido; chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area; the Inspector General of Police and the state Commissioner of Police, for allegedly trespassing and violation of his fundamental human rights.
The plaintiff had alleged that Governor Lamido, on February 31, 2015 led the state PDP and its supporters during a political rally in Birnin Kudu and invaded his personal residence, forcing him, as a result, to remain indoors, an act he said contravened Section 34 of the constitution.
Delivering the judgment on Wednesday, Justice Yahuza said the court had found the defendants guilty and ordered payment of N30 million to the plaintiff.
