Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ogun east senatorial zone and chairman South West PDP Mobilisation Committee, Prince Buruji Kashamu has said the allegations made against him in the suit instituted by two purported members of the PDP at the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, lacks substance.
Kashamu made this submission in reaction to a report in a national newspaper (not Sunday Sun), in which it was stated that the suit was instituted by the two purported members of the PDP in Ijebu North and Sagamu Local Government Areas with the intent of securing his disqualification from contesting the March 28, National Assembly elections.
While dismissing the suit, he said that it was based on a re-hash of the same allegations that had been thoroughly investigated by competent foreign jurisdictions and found wanting, Kashamu expressed disgust that the same allegations continue to be re-cycled by individuals petrified and intimidated by his rapidly rising political profile.
Noting that he had instructed his lawyers to address the issues raised in the said lawsuit at the appropriate forum and time, Kashamu assured his teeming associates and supporters that there was no cause for alarm.
His words: “They need not entertain any fears, as the allegations lack substance and of no consequences whatsoever. First, I have not been charged or convicted of any offences whether here in Nigeria or anywhere in the world. As I have said severally, the Interpol and other relevant agencies, including the courts in the United Kingdom and Nigeria had exonerated me of the unfounded allegations.”
He described the lawsuit as “sleazy politics at its worst by the dirtiest politicians in Ogun State.”
