Ondo APC dissociates self from Ondo Assembly Crisis

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted the claim in some quarters that the party masterminded last week’s attack on the convoy of the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The party also confirmed that it was not aware of any crisis rocking the State House of Assembly not to talk of sponsoring any protest at the Assembly.
The State Deputy Chairman of the APC, Engineer Ade Adetimehin disclosed this yesterday while answering questions from The Hope in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
According to him, if there is any crisis in the state House of Assembly, it is the responsibility of the honourable members of the House to sort themselves out without any outside interference.
“Is there any crisis in the State House of Assembly? If there is any crisis in the House of Assembly, it is the responsibility of lawmakers to sort themselves out because it is an internal crisis. They can sit down and resolve it among themselves. Husband and wife do disagree and they resolve it,” he stated.
He also described the APC as a law abiding and well nurtured party which cannot sponsor any protest against anybody, emphasizing that none of the members of the House of Assembly on the platform of the party has brought any crisis to the notice of the party.
“On what ground will the APC protest? The party cannot protest because it is a well-nurtured party. APC is a law abiding political party so it cannot lead any protest. I can confirm that to you. If there is going to be any protest by the party, the party will be aware.
“Individuals can protest, but not APC as a party. Individuals are citizens of the state. What is happening is internal wrangling of the Assembly.

“Our party members in the House of Assembly have not brought any crisis to the notice of the party. I am telling you that I am not aware of any protest, that I can confirm to you.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Deputy Governor-Elect, Hon. Agboola Ajayi has said that the crisis rocking the Ondo State House of Assembly is purely a legislative matter and should be treated as such.
In an interview with newsmen in Akure, Ajayi affirmed that being a former member of the House of Representatives, the crisis at the Ondo State House of Assembly is not strange to him, he therefore charged those involved to address the issue as it is a legislative affair.
“I used to be a member of the House of Representatives and so, I am familiar with the terrain. The crisis rocking the Ondo State House of Assembly is purely a legislative matter and it should be treated so”.
He further spoke on the foiled budget presentation by the Dr Olusegun Mimiko-led government, noting that the incoming APC-led government has no problem with Mimiko presenting his budget at the House.
He pointed out that “budget presentation is a normal process for the government. APC has no problem with the incumbent government presenting the budget at the House of Assembly. God has given us victory and in a couple of days, we will take over the affairs of this state.
” There is what is called supplementary budget. When we come into the government, we can then look at it and make necessary amends.”
The Police are still at the assembly complex.
The place remains sealed until a contrary directive from the state Commissioner of Police is given.
Meanwhile, seven of the protesters were ordered by an Akure Magistrate Court last weekend to be remanded in prison custody for attacking the governor’s convoy.
On its own, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), believed that a political solution may be found to the crisis at the end of the day.
The party’s State Director of Publicity, Mr Ayo Fadaka said in an interview yesterday that the party still maintains that the crisis was needless.
According to him: “the party still maintains that it was indeed a needless crisis and we still call on those honourable members that are behind this crisis to drop the gauntlet and come back to the mainstream of PDP.(Hope)
