Plateau PDP guber candidate begs INEC to dump card readers

PIC.8. FIELD TEST OF INEC SMART CARD READER IN LAGOS STATE
The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State, Gyang Pwajok, has appealed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, to allow Nigerians with temporary voter cards exercise their franchise using manual voter’s register during the April 11 governorship elections.

Mr. Pwajok made the appeal on Thursday in Jos.
While addressing journalists, he lamented that the use of card reader machines during the presidential and National Assembly elections, disenfranchised many electorates.
He called on the commission to discard the use of card readers during the next elections.
Mr. Pwajok attributed the failure of the PDP in the state to the aggrieved members of the party who quit it during the last lap of the electioneering.
However, Mr. Pwajok expressed optimism that Plateau would remain in PDP following the human and capital developmental programme of the party, particularly in the state.
Mr. Pwajok, a serving Senator representing Plateau North at the National Assembly expressed confidence that he would win the April 11 polls.
“I believe that there are intervening variables that will come to play during the governorship election because the feelings and expectation of Plateau people will also differ during the contest for the governorship,” he said. “The reality is that there will be alignment and realignment. There is a fact that some people voted Buhari as president but will vote GNS Pwajok for governorship.
“I want to call on those who have stuck their neck out for the greater good of Plateau State to remain resolute and to remain steadfast in standing for what they believe in the interest of the state.
“I am not worried in anyway because I believe that out of this confusion we will come out confident, and I am ready to take up the challenge to give quality leadership that the Plateau people expect of the younger generation of leadership that is emerging in Plateau.”
