Oshiomhole spent N150m to celebrate Buhari’s victory – Edo PDP

By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—EDO State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged that the state government spent N150 million to celebrate the victory of President-elect, Gen. Munhammadu Buhari (rtd) in the election.

The party also alleged that the government was seeking loans to support its candidates in next week’s House of Assembly elections and therefore, advised all Edo voters to resist the plan which it said was capable of undermining their sovereignty at the polls.
State Chairman of the party Chief Dan Orbih, who addressed newsmen in Benin, said: “Edo PDP observed with shock and disbelief Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s lavish celebration of the announced result of the presidential election that he contributed nothing to. The APC states where huge figures were recorded in the election were modest in their joys.
“A lot of things were wrong with the governor’s action as a whooping N150m was expended in the needless waste that was the celebration at a time when local government employees and staffers of the state government are owed backlog of salaries.”
But reacting, APC state Publicity Secretary, Mr Godwin Erhahon, said “Chief Dan Orbih should not be taken serious. Edo People knows that he is a liar and whatever figure he mentioned is not correct. The event was not sponsored by the state government but by well-wishers.”
On the allegation that the state government plans to obtain loans to support APC candidates in next week’s election, he said “Chief Orbih has no way of knowing whether the state government is planning to take a loan.
“Orbih and the PDP are in a state of helplessness as the Abuja contractors and oil bunkers who distributed billions of naira during the last election are no longer willing to fund their campaigns since the APC won the Presidential election.”
