The moves by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to replace James Faleke with Olumoroti as the running mate of Yahaya Bello has suffered setback after Olumoroti rejected the offer.
Hon James Faleke
According to a source close to Olomoroti, he has already turned down the offer. There was no reason for this action but it was learnt that the rejection was linked to his loyalty to the Audu/Falek ticket, Vanguard reports.
The source further stated that stakeholders in the Audu/Faleke may have been instructed not have anything to do with Yahaya Bello ticket.
However, rampaging youths in Faleke’s home town held motorists hostage for hours over the decision of the APC to field Bello as the party’s flag bearer.
The protesting youths are angry over the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare Faleke as the governor-elect.
A protester, Ayorinde Tanimola accused INEC of bias as there was no need for a supplementary election as Audu had already won the election.
Tanimola said: “What INEC should have done was to declare Faleke the governor-elect. The supplementary poll slated for Saturday was a declaration of ethnic war against the Okun people of Kogi State.
“It is immoral to bring Yahaya Bello, who worked against the party, to reap the work of Audu and Faleke. APC has shown that it is worse than PDP and we will fight this case with the last drop of our blood.”
Meanwhile, Hon. Prince Ajulu, the administrative secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state under the leadership of Ejike Oguebego, has taken a swipe at the party’s national publicity secretary Olisa Metuh, following his inciting comments against the APC.
