Benue Rerun: Drama As gods “Settle” For Onjeh Over David Mark

This drama played out when His Royal Highness (HRH), Agaba Idu Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, called on the Och’ Otukpo Odu, Chief John Eiyemonye to pray in the traditional way before the commencement of the business of the day.


The Och’ Otukpo Odu in the final phase of the prayer broke a kolanut into three pieces and threw them up; The Palace went into a frenzy when all the three broken pieces of kolanut faced up.

This was followed by hushed tones discussions that revolve around the significance of the outcome of the broken pieces of kolanut throw.

The gathering in a unanimous judgment concluded that it was a good and a sign of good things to come as even the “gods” has endorsed Comrade Daniel Onjeh as the next senator of Benue South Senatorial District.

Recalls that the election of the immediate past Senate president, David Mark, was nullified by a Court Of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, the Benue state capital. The court also reportedly ordered for a re-run election within 90 days.

In reaction to the the court ruling for a re-run of the Benue South Senatorial election, the returning officer who conducted the election, Professor Latif Tiamiyu, has reportedly said the election which produced David Mark as the winner was free and fair
