The Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the allegation that the state deputy governor, Ahmed Musa Ibeto was thrown out of the state executive council meeting, saying that from its findings, the deputy governor was economical with the truth.
But the All Progressives Congress (APC), rising in defence of the deputy governor who defected to the party last month, said that the deputy was never known for politics of lies.
A statement by the publicity secretary of the PDP, Hon Hassan Saba, chided the deputy governor for accusing Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu and the executive council members wrongly, adding that he was looking for cheap popularity.
It said that Ibeto left the council chamber on his own volition on what the SEC thought was on moral grounds.
In its own reaction, APC described the claim that the deputy governor excused himself from the meeting as false, adding that such claim was the height of the deceit to which the people of the state were subjected by the PDP government over the years.
The publicity secretary of APC in the state, Mr Jonathan Vatsa, challenged the governor to produce the recorded clips of the meeting for people to know who is lying between the governor and his deputy.
It said that Dr Aliyu has always treated the deputy governor as an equal since 2007, despite jumping ship to the opposition party.
“He has not lost any official entitlement his office has been enjoying since 2007 and in fact, nobody has stopped him from using government resources at his disposal for APC campaigns”, the party added
