Edo State commissioner Dennis Idahosa has defected from the ruling All Progressives Party, (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Idahosa did not leave alone. Other leaders of the APC in Ovia South West local government area also said they had left for the PDP to support the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The commissioner accused governor Adams Oshiomhole of insulting the president and other political leaders.
The commissioner for investment and public private partnership said: “The reason I am joining PDP is that I don’t agree with the way Oshiomhole abuse our elders and President Jonathan. As a youth, I stand to support President Jonathan for the presidency”.
The Edo State chairman of the PDP, Dan Orbih, welcomed the new defectors, and said that more serving commissioners in Oshiomole’s government had shown their willingness to join the opposition.
He said that the APC had failed the state and the PDP will come out victorious in the coming election.
Governor Oshiomole and the APC were yet to react to the commissioner’s defection at the time of filing this report.
