A former deputy National Chairman, South West of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has challenged Buhari to explain why he jailed late Pa Obafemi Awolowo and Pa Micheal Ajasin during his tenure as Head of State.
According to reports in The Sun, Bode George who was speaking at a rally organised by the PDP in Epe, said Buhari should come out to convince Nigerians of his credibility.
He said that “Nigeria cannot afford to have a leader who cannot give explanations to issues that demand such.”
“Buhari should come and explain the rationale behind the jailing and humiliation of Late Pa Obafemi Awolowo and Pa Micheal Ajasin.”
Bode George said the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd) should not boycott the presidential debate.
The debate scheduled for tomorrow, February 3, 2015, is being organised by the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) for the 14 presidential candidates participating in the February 14 presidential poll and their running mates.
Bode George challenged Buhari to come for the debat, saying the “Debate is part of democracy. Any candidate who boycotts an election debate has something to hide and should be voted out.
‘’Why is Buhari refusing to come and debate,” he queried, “let the APC candidate come and defend his planned programmes for Nigeria and his records as former Head of State for he who comes to equity must come with clean hands,” he said
While soliciting support for President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, George said a PDP government in Lagos would expose what was done with the resources of the state in the past 16 years.
It would be recalled that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decried Muhammadu Buhari’s insistence on not participating in any national debate. The Party has maintained that Buhari is too incompetent to challenge Jonathan on national television.
