Kogi : Women Protest Over Inconclusive Results of INEC

Women with placards have held a peaceful demonstration in front of the Kogi state offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, December 3.
The protestors who were dressed in black and carried placards wanted to show their disagreement with the ruling of the November 21st governorship elections in the state. The election was declared inconclusive.
The Kogi state police command reportedly deployed police officers around the INEC offices to ensure order was maintained.

The late Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, was initially declared the winner of the election. However, his death has spurred major internal division within the Kogi state APC leadership.
The females present at the protest claimed that INEC’s ruling could plunge Kogi state into chaos.
“We are here to register a protest about INEC’s declaration that the election was inconclusive and to let them know that they are the ones that have created this problem now. INEC wants to deliberately set Kogi on fire, for reasons best known to them,” one of the protesters said.
