
To give effect to the new development, the commissioner has directed all buses operating under the BRT and LAGBUS franchise to begin to pick physically challenged passengers free of charge.
The directive learnt takes immediate effect. The commissioner was, however, silent on whether the government would pay the operators on behalf of the physically challenged passengers.
The BRT buses are owned and operated largely by private investors while the LAGBUS buses are operated by an agency of the state government.
Mobereola also urged Lagosians commuting on the roads to obey traffic laws as well as traffic officers, especially during the yuletide season.
