236 councilors angry with Amosun over failed promises

A strong indication has emerged that, all the 236 councilors in Ogun State are angry with the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun over his alleged failed promises made to them.

The councilors, according to the investigation were unhappy with the governor due to the failure of the governor to fulfil his promise on the purchase of their official cars, furniture allowance as well as wardrobe allowance among others.
Platform Times checks revealed that, governor Amosun had met with the councilors June 27,2014 and pledged to ensure all the councilors in the state get their official cars and other allowances.
It was gathered that Amosun had reportedly told the councilors that he had approved the purchase of new cars and furniture allowance, effective from July 2014 to all the 236 councillors in the State.
The governor was also reported to have mandated the Councillors to come up with a proposal for a capital project to be executed in their various wards.
Amosun had the said this last year when he met with all the 236 councillors in the state, including the 15 non-APC members.
Amosun had said that he was very concerned about the people at the grassroots, whom he described as the bedrock for a thriving governance.
But, seven months after the governor made the promise, the councilors were said to have been left in the lurch.
It will be recalled that Amosun has been reported to have approved the purchase of new cars and furniture allowance, effective from July, to all the 236 councillors in the state.
He has also quoted of asking them to come up with a proposal for a capital project to be executed in each ward.
Amosun while addressing all the councillors in the state, including the 15 non-APC members, said he was very concerned about the people in the grassroots, whom he described as the bedrock for a thriving governance.
He challenged the councillors to see themselves as ambassadors of the people at the grassroots and charged them to have clear vision for their wards.
He said he is not unmindful of the fact that the organ of government at the grassroots must have necessary incentives, tools and enabling environment to achieve meaningful development, adding that this explains the governments gesture.
